The Podcast “Host”
Great podcasters are easy to work with and set the space for their interviews to be successful.
Yes, get what you need to do a great episode. Yes, ask guests for what you want. But make sure guests get what they need as well.
What we create goes out everywhere. Because of this, it can be intimidating for people to participate.
What we do doesn’t seem like a big deal, because we see the inside. But it can feel like a big deal to those who only hear the finished product or look at people in the “media” as authorities.
Plus, you’re in charge of your podcast. A guest is along for your ride, which is a very vulnerable position.
Great hosts work to create an emotionally safe environment for their guests. They show guests empathy, give them space to work with, and allow them to be heard.
Take care of your guests. The more you set them at ease, the better your interviews, and your podcast, will be.
