Your Podcast Subscribe Page
Most people have no idea how to subscribe to a podcast. Because of this, you will have more success getting people to subscribe to your podcast if you help the process along.
For some people, you’ll need to provide step-by-step instructions, but if you think potential listeners have some knowledge of technology, a mobile-first “subscribe” page is a good solution.
Here’s the one I use for my podcast on podcasting, Build a Big Podcast:
Notice how it’s not complicated—it doesn’t give people a ton of options to choose from, just two.
Are you using an iPhone or an Android device? That’s all I need to know in order to get somebody to the right place, which right now is Apple Podcasts for iPhone users and Spotify for those using Android devices.
A second question, "Do you have Spotify installed?" is there primarily because so many mobile phone users, even those who don’t listen to podcasts on a regular basis, do have Spotify installed, and it works as a foot in the door for other options.
It’s worth noting that the only reason Spotify is listed is because of its popularity—it’s not a great podcast player. Again, I’m trying to make it easy for people to listen at all. If they like what they hear on Spotify, those who use other players will know how to get Build a Big Podcast on those players.
You can pick another destination to send each group, but keep things simple. If you give people too many choices, they won’t pick any of them.
