Read This Before You Launch (or Relaunch) a Podcast
No podcast launch is perfect. You will not get it “right.” You’re not going to totally mess it up either.
But you need to do something.
It’s very tempting to buy into “hope marketing,” believing that simply releasing something to the world will magically attract people to it.
Sometimes that happens, but most people aren’t just going to find you—you have to go to them.
The best things you can do to have a successful launch are:
Make what you do obvious.
This means I should know exactly what you do by looking at your name and cover art.
Ask yourself … “Is this obvious?” Then ask your friends and the people you’re trying to attract to your podcast.Borrow existing audiences.
Somebody has an audience full of the people you want to listen to your podcast. How can you work with this person?
Maybe you go on a podcast as guest. Maybe you have somebody on your podcast as a guest. It doesn’t matter how you do it—just work with the people who are already talking to the people you want to talk to.
Having a successful podcast isn’t hard, you just have to go to the people who are already interested in what you’ve got and make what you’ve got obvious.
