No Stupid Questions
“There are no stupid questions.”
How many times have we heard this insight?
It’s true, but not for the reason most people think …
As hosts, especially working on niche podcasts, it’s common for us to skip “basic” questions and topics. And we have good reasons to do this:
We want to appear smart.
We are “smart” and, because we’re often creating content for advanced-level people, we take basic topics for granted and assume everybody listening is on the same level as we are.
But asking basic questions challenges assumptions and can unlock new insight into things we’ve seen, thought about, or done thousands of times. And this can be the most powerful part of an interview.
If you really want to be different and have a podcast that stands out, “stupid questions” is a great way to do it.
