Measure This First
The online world is often a competition of egos with a lot of one-upmanship and, as a podcaster, it’s easy to get caught up in this.
I had a conversation with two different clients last week that were concerned about the size of the audiences they were reaching. It makes sense—you want to reach as many people as you can.
But …
More important than raw numbers of people is who those people are. Your first concern should be whether you’re reaching the right people.
What does “right” look like? That’s a little more complicated, but it’s usually a combination of:
Needs your help.
Has the ability to buy what you’re selling (pay for it, access it, etc)
Highly motivated to engage with you (or whatever your other goals are)
That’s it—podcasting success isn’t just a numbers game.
