Get the Tape
I’ve recorded thousands of podcast and radio episodes. I’ve voiced a few audiobooks.
At a minimum, I record around 300 hours of new audio each year.
Most people aren’t behind a microphone nearly as much.
I’ve done a single interview with my father and one with my mother, each for a different project I was working on. Other than that, I don’t know that they have anything “on tape.”
I’m pretty sure there are no audio recordings of my grandparents.
I saw this message from Hanna Neter and think it’s a great reminder that what we do as podcasters, recording people, is important.
My mum died when I was 11. Recently I was contacted by someone on Facebook who interviewed her for her dissertation and had found the tape recording. So this weekend I've heard her voice for the first time in more than 25 years!
