Cancel Culture Doesn't Apply to Podcasting
Remember when podcasters were resilient?
The entire format was built upon that. We didn’t worry about being chosen—we set up our own shows, created our own distribution method, and built our own audiences.
But things have changed ... Way too many podcasters today are soft, constantly talking about "cancel culture" and playing the victim card.
You are not a victim.
There's no such thing as "cancel culture" in podcasting—you either have something people like or you don't.
Nobody is censoring you. People (and companies) may not want to be associated with what you do, but that doesn't keep you from doing it.
The entertainment business, especially comedy and music, has a long history of people complaining they “can’t say anything anymore.”
Arthur Godfrey is often quoted as saying something along these lines …
"I'm not supposed to make fun of the blacks or the Polacks anymore. Now who am I supposed to make fun of?"
He figured it out and you will too. But only if you stop labeling what doesn’t work anymore as “cancel culture.”
